Geek, meet Fashion. Fashion, meet Geek.

I love when geek meets fashion, so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my inbox last week and found a flyer from Armani Exchange with their newest geeky endeavor:

Eagerly, I picked up my beloved iPhone and tapped in the URL. I was happy to find a pretty quick mobile website that looked great on screen. I’m not sure yet how useful mobile shopping is when it comes to clothes (books, DVD’s and etc, I can see), but I’m hoping Armani Exchange can pave the way.

I’d like to surf the site on a more legacy device (can’t believe I’m calling the old 4.2-4.6 BlackBerry devices ‘legacy’, but I am!) and maybe something new and cool (BlackBerry Onyx & Motorola Droid).

Did I mention I’m a geek?

Anyways, screenshots of a few screens through the shopping experience.

First screen that pops up - choose a category.

A very pretty dress! I didn’t take a screenshot of the actual category view, but it was very basic - photo, price, clicky the link. The actual product view is also very minimal.

On to checkout. Aside from that missing image up at the top (what’s up with that!), it’s pretty standard 2-flow checkout process. It is secure - but I opted not to buy that dress :)  (regardless of how pretty it is)

Huzzah!

Hope you’re all enjoying your Sunday wherever you are - I used to despise Sundays because it meant that I was just closer to the next school/work day, but I am finally learning to embrace it. The weather’s gorgeous over here in Toronto - so I am headed outside to enjoy it :)

Mission relaxation has been foiled.

What a disappointment. I look forward to going to yoga class, and I have not had a chance to go in a week or two because of my crazy busy schedule, so my stress and anxiety built up inside and I was really looking forward to some Sunday morning detox.

I really dislike that the girl next to me had a bad habit of staring over at me. I’m no pro, at all, but she seemed to be very interested in my movements. This made me pretty uncomfortable and I couldn’t get myself to fully focus on my poses. On top of that, at the end of the class, when we were all laying there, blissful and enjoying Savasana, some chick’s cellphone went off, cutting the instructor short.

So I stayed in the restorative pose for just a little longer - I was hoping I could tune everything out and focus on the soft white curtains, the heat from the room and my breath - but I seemed to be the only one planning on practicing Savasana for longer than 3 minutes. I was interrupted by several females gathering their shit and stomping out of the room, some even slamming the door.

I sighed, gave up and called it a class. Quietly gathered my things and exited the room.

I am disappointed that I did not get enough time to myself today. So, I think I will go to the gym in a few to cardio-out some of that leftover stress. Can you bliss-out on the treadmill?

In other news, Martin & I spent the afternoon @ Yorkdale and I almost splurged and bought another pair of sunglasses. I am a fan of aviators but I find that I cannot pull off most - I finally found a pair of Raybans that are half decent on my face, but I couldn’t get myself to pay for it. I just bought a pair of D&G shields in January, and yesterday, I actually bought another pair of eyeglasses (this would be my 3rd pair of eyeglasses that I rotate through regularly). I have a thing for variety. I will probably buy them, it’s just a matter of time. Sigh.

The year of the jacket.

Miss Sixty Sanchez duck down jacket

I needed a jacket to get me through the -20 degree weather. I only purchase jackets/coats once every 2-3 years, and I don’t own a down feather one yet, so this was perfect… I heart Miss Sixty :)

Boxing Day Triumph.

I have almost always fallen victim to the Boxing Day excitement - you know the type. The “OMG it’s half off, and I kind of like it, but it’s half off so I’ll get it!” and then never wearing it ever. Ever. So lame.

But I have learned!

For that reason alone, I hadn’t planned on going out. But I really, really, really needed a new winter jacket - and I had been eyeing a new Mackage jacket for quite some time.

So, Martin & I suited up, and braved the crowds… and within half an hour of arriving at the store, I purchased it - the Tessy jacket by Mackage in black.

Oh God, it’s so hot. It was also reasonably priced (all things considered, of course). The sleeves are beautiful, the leather belt adds such sexiness and that collar is to-die-for.

And now, we are already home and it’s just past noon. A successful go at the boxing day sales, I’d say!

Hope you’ve all got your animal-instincts on if you’ve also decided to brave the crowds today. And, also hope you all had a good holiday :)

Winter wear

I am in the market for decent winter boots that I can wear on my way to-and-from the gym/yoga studio/etc. Feast your eyes on these babies! Stella McCartney’s Wintersports Salju boots.

How awesome! Except they’re all out of my size :( OF COURSE. Sure, they may be overkill for just walking a few blocks, but hey, they’re gah-geous. I’ll have to run to the store to see if I can fit into any other size (yes I’m desparate).

I may opt for these (they’re on sale!) - the Arosa Hi Sleek shoes

Or I can stop fantasizing and go buy a pair of Sorel boots to get me through the blizzardy days.

I hate winter.

PS: I used to hate google reader, so I reluctantly started using Bloglines. Now that Google Reader’s done some BIG THANGS to their layout, I’m a happy Google Reader convert. Streamline, that’s the word of the year. Email, RSS feeds, Calendar and Docs - all under one happy, shiny roof.

Relaxing Sunday!

What a relaxing weekend! I’m “unwinding” from a stress-free weekend by enjoying a cup of Organic Vanilla Oolong tea from David’s Tea and letting Dr. Haushka’s Rejuvenating Mask do it’s thang (I love this stuff!). I am also being engulfed in the awesome of my most recent addition to the Shoe family:

Found these while I was procrastinating from grocery shopping after an incredibly full lunch with the boyfriend. I think that every woman should own a pair of leopard shoes - bring out the bombshell in ‘em!
