BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich

If this sandwich is any indication of what 2012 might bring, it might mean I need to buy bigger pants. Or more jogging pants. :)

Buchty na pare (steamed sweet dumplings)

Buchty (pronounced “boo-ktea”) is a Slovak dish that my fiancé constantly raves about, so I thought I would give it a go. I didn’t have plum jam on-hand, so I used a strawberry jam filling. It was super delicious (considering it was day old leavened dough that I had stored in the fridge - I had made steamed dumplings (or “knedla”) the day before for stew). I am super excited that it was super easy to make, and really sweet - and fiancé tells me that they eat these babies as an entree. YES! Dessert for dinner :)

Pistachio macarons.

Pistachio macarons with a chocolate ganache filling. My second try at these tiny treasures - they taste amazing! Once I master the craziness that is the piping bag, I’m sure they’ll come out looking a lot cuter, too.

Lazy Sunday.

Whoa, been a while. It’s been busy. Really busy.

I’ve been cooking and baking more often - who knew I would love it so much! After so many years of resisting, I have finally given in!

Also, I’m obsessed with the Food Network.

Today, to celebrate a really lazy Sunday, I made lemon poppyseed pancakes that the fiancé has claimed to be his favourite pancakes of all time - yes!!!

My favourite part when creating it was actually zesting the lemon - it was my first time zesting anything, but the sweet citrusy smell of the lemon was so worth it!

The recipe can be found here (my online food bible!).

A new way to de-stress

Share a pitcher of Sangria with your boyfriend, over hot burritos, chimichangas, churros and fried ice cream.

The meal totally felt like something straight out of thisiswhyyourefat.com, but it was oh so good! And it relaxed us enough to enjoy our Sunday without thinking about all the stresses that the impending work week might will bring.

And I was drunk. Yeeeeauhhh.

Sangria Sundays are now a recurring item in our calendars.
